Case Study: Learning and development strategy

  • The World Bank’s TLSP program required a structured learning and development initiative to support more than 100 global leaders in strengthening leadership, coaching, and strategic decision-making. Leaders needed tools for coaching, team management, and problem-solving in a cross-cultural, high-stakes environment.

  • A leadership development program was created that blended structured learning with personalized coaching and peer collaboration. The course ranges from 3-4 months and consists of synchronous and asynchronous learning modules, delivered in cohorts of between 25-30 rising leaders.

    • Designed leadership training program with structured learning cohorts.

    • Provided individual and group coaching for final course assignment - leadership challenge.

    • Facilitated virtual and a final three-day in-person training to reinforce skills and align leadership strategies.

    • Created peer learning networks to sustain collaboration beyond the program.

    • High program retention and completion rates; 96% of all registrants completed the course.

    • Participants reported a measurable increase in leadership confidence and skill application.

    • TLSP leadership incorporated peer coaching models into ongoing leadership development efforts.

    • Peer coaching groups exceed the duration of the course; extending level of ongoing support within communities of practice.

    • Blended learning that incorporates coaching, training, and peer engagement increases leadership skill retention.

    • Global leadership programs must consider cultural, operational, and contextual factors to be effective.
